I too have had this problem for a while now - both with Sarge and with Etch.
It is so slow that a lot of the "get"s time out. I was going to ask the list
for suggestions for a better repository - but wanted to be reasonably sure
first that the trouble didn't lie with me. So I am grateful to have had such
a simple solution suggested as substituting de for uk. :-) I shall do it
immediately. And then run update again....
