Subject: [Hampshire] Hiding mount points in Gnome
Hi,

I am in the process of setting up a desktop machine running Ubuntu
Dapper as a trial for some Windows users I am hoping to convert to
Linux. As part of this trial I would like to give them access to the
documents stored on their existing Windows PC.

What I have done so far is to create a share on the Windows PC for each
user's "My Documents" folder and then added lines to /etc/fstab to
auto-mount them into each user's home folder (~/Windows).

The problem I am having is that GNOME detects these shares and
adds them all to every users desktop, places menu and file
dialogues making them practically unusable. Does anyone know how to stop
GNOME from showing these mount points? I have found the gconf
setting /apps/nautilus/desktop/volumes_visible but that only affects
the desktop and not the places menu or file dialogues.

Many Thanks

Andy
