Forwarded from the Birmingham Perl Mongers. Though Brum.pm is not a Linux
group there are people in the LUG who use Perl and may be interested in
this anyway.

Dear All,

As some of you may be aware, Birmingham Perl Mongers are once again
planning to spend some time visiting other Perl and Linux user groups in
the UK. In 2006 our primary aim was to raise awareness of the
YAPC::Europe::2006 conference that we organised. This year we are simply
attempting to promote Perl. We may well mention the event we are
planning later in the year, but more on that in due course.

For our 2006 World Tour, many of the meetings we attended were social,
so for 2007 we plan to attend technical meetings, or more to the point,
offer ourselves as speakers for your technical meetings. Possible talks
are still being discussed and/or written, but one or more of us would
like to come along and put on a Perl presentation for you.

You folks have all been highlighted as meeting organisers for your local
group, and as such will likely know more than anyone else, when you can
schedule a visit from us. Please bear in mind that we may have to juggle
dates around our own events, so if you can offer more than one date,
that would be very helpful. However, if you could let me know the
following, it would go some way to help us arrange a decent tour.

Regular Meeting Dates (March - August):
Prefered Meeting Date:
Talk Session Length:
Prefered Talk Type:

The latter is primarily to enable us to aim the talks at the right
audience level (eg beginner/regular/expert) and know what kind of
content you'd like (technical/theory/fun). Feel free to suggest talk
subjects, if there are any areas you feel we could cover, as the
potential speaker roster for the tour covers a breadth of knowledge in
many subject areas, so you may strike lucky ;)

If you can let me know the above over the next few weeks, I can
hopefully start confirming dates with everyone.

I look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully visiting you :)

Have fun,
Barbie.

Yes, I'm bitter and cynical. That does not make me wrong.
