[Hampshire] Optical mouse recommendations for a Vaio Laptop.

I was given for Christmas a Labtec optical mouse which connects by a
wireless link to a USB plugin receiver. It has never worked very
reliably and seemed to eat batteries. Now it has stopped working
altogether.

Can anyone recommend a cable-less mouse or trackball suitable for a
Laptop. There is no PS2 port only USB and Bluetooth but I don't know
how well this works with Linux (Ubuntu 6.10).
