OK, that could be one problem

I'll have to look at this again later - our oven has just blow the
main fuse for some reason and I don't have any 15 amp cartridge
fuses in stock.

Substituting a bit of 15amp fusewire for the cartridge isn't a 'good
idea' for more than a very temporary fix.
