They have done. A while ago there was a trial of Ogg Vorbis streaming.
They decided not to use it and shut down the trial. Since then,
they've decided to use Microsoft's codecs.

I always hoped they would stop using Realmedia encoding. "Take care in
what you wish for" as they say.
