Have a look at ClarkConnect for the distro

it will do the firewall side of things and is easy to administer as
you do it via a web browser interface.
I am not sure tho' that doing all you want from the one system is
going to be very secure. For example putting your families private
files on a box you want to access from the internet sounds dodgy to me
