Subject: [Hampshire] Wake-up-on-LAN problem.
After some effort I managed to get my print server to boot from either
of 2 laptops using a script sending the magic number to the server.

Unfortunately the power supply to this machine failed and I have had
to replace it. While I was waiting for a replacement the BIOS battery
discharged so I have had to reset the BIOS for Wake On LAN (I think I
have set it the same as before). Now the server will not start from
either laptop unless I have first unplugged and reconnected either the
3 pin connector from the ethernet card to the mother board or the
mains plug. The machine is shut down using the 'poweroff' comand over
ssh the same as before.

After 'poweroff' the ethernet LED is lit on the router but off on the
server. The condition is the same after unplugging and reconnecting
the the 3 pin connector but the server can then be restarted from the
laptop.

I am at a loss to understand this. Any help would be gratefully received.
