[Hampshire] Quick permissions question

Hi all

Related to those having problems with their NAS boxes. Mine is mounted ok
but I can only write to it as root. If I set the permissions of the mount
point (/mnt/whatever) to a+w - will this be inherited by all subdirectories?
Or - is it something to do with the command I used to mount it?
