Good thought, but no -- it still happens with SpamAssassin turned off.
And it happens when I'm looking at web pages as well as doing email.
The following errors coincided with a perfectly successful visit to
Ebuyer's web page:
named[13605]: FORMERR resolving 'static.ebuyer.com/AAAA/IN': 195.74.96.20#53
named[13605]: FORMERR resolving 'static.ebuyer.com/A/IN': 195.74.96.34#53
named[13605]: FORMERR resolving 'static.ebuyer.com/A/IN': 195.74.96.20#53
named[13605]: unexpected RCODE (SERVFAIL) resolving
'static.ebuyer.com/A/IN': 195.74.96.173#53
named[13605]: FORMERR resolving 'static.ebuyer.com/A/IN': 195.74.96.35#53
named[13605]: FORMERR resolving
'www-google-analytics.l.google.com/AAAA/IN': 195.74.96.34#53
gloria named[13605]: FORMERR resolving
'www-google-analytics.l.google.com/AAAA/IN': 195.74.96.35#53
named[13605]: unexpected RCODE (SERVFAIL) resolving
'www-google-analytics.l.google.com/AAAA/IN': 195.74.96.173#53
I even get this:
named[13605]: FORMERR resolving 'a.iana-servers.net/A/IN': 195.74.96.34#53
Presumably there's nothing wrong with that machine.
Running 'host' or 'dig' from the command line works fine, but causes
messages in the log. For example, 'dig @gloria bbc.co.uk' (where gloria
is the name of my server, the one with the errors), gives the correct
results, but sends this to gloria's log:
named[13605]: FORMERR resolving 'bbc.co.uk/A/IN': 195.74.96.34#53
named[13605]: FORMERR resolving 'bbc.co.uk/A/IN': 195.74.96.35#53
gloria named[13605]: unexpected RCODE (SERVFAIL) resolving
'bbc.co.uk/A/IN': 195.74.96.173#53
gloria named[13605]: FORMERR resolving 'bbc.co.uk/A/IN': 195.74.96.20#53
cheers
Chris
