It's a setting in the Linux ACPI system. I do it with a debian Lenny server,
and it just worked out of the box. I think you can set up kde to prevent it
(just so you're warned)

/etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh

is the file you want (I think) as I say, mine just worked (outside kde).
