I believe linux.debian.user is a newsgroup version of the
debian-user@??? mailing list. This might be where the
problem stems from. On my newsfeed (aaisp/gradwell) linux.debian.user
is marked as moderated. If I recall correctly, this means that the news
server has to send the posting as an e-mail to a moderation address.
Also, the fact that the newsgroup post has now "succeeded" doesn't
necessarily mean it has been forwarded to the mailing list as well,
since the gateway might not be bidirectional.

In summary: you're probably better off sending it to the mailing list
and regarding the newsgroup version as read-only.
