Can you give us an "ls -al" of you profile directory?
Also the contents of ~/.thunderbird/profiles.ini (which will tell us
which profile you are actually using)
If none of this works, try creating a new profile (using "thunderbird
-profilemanager", and create a new profile directory,then make sure the
new one is selected inthe list), cExit from the profile manager screen,
then copy the contents of the old directory, minus the lock and
.parentlock files, to the new one.
