Hi all
I'm going wrong somewhere trying to setup VirtualBox - can anyone help?
I'm trying to get a 64-bit host running 64-bit virtual machines but I'm getting virtualbox errors along the lines of "I need a amd_64 kernel but I'm only detecting an i586".
Thus far I have:
1) Ensured I'm running a 64-bit kernel on host
$ uname -a
Linux gough 2.6.24-21-generic #1 SMP Tue Oct 21 23:09:30 UTC 2008 x86_64
2) Installed VirtualBox for hardy 64-bit
3) Tried to run guest iso: ubuntu-8.04-desktop-amd64.iso
4) According to VirtualBox's help - I need to enable Virtualisation in my BIOS which I have done. According to Ubuntu's system monitor, I'm running an Athlon 3000+ which (I must admit) I wasn't sure supported Virtualisation - but the fact that there's a BIOS option means. To be honest, I'm not sure what CPU's in there but I thought it was more modern than an Athlon 3000+ - I only bought it new 12 months ago.
