[Hampshire] Novatech Laptops...

Hi All.

I've acquired a Novatech Laptop - not sure of their designation, but the
label on the underside describes it as a L51A10.

It has an ATI chipset, including an audio device that reports itself as:

ATI Technologies Inc IXP SB4x0 High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

I get no sound from the onboard speakers (although the headphone output
seems to work). Much Googling has given me little but editing
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base, and trying all permutations. No luck so far...

Has anyone tried this kit? I'm trying to get Kubuntu 8.10 running on it
(it's going to be my PVR eventually).
