At the risk of asking the obvious (and having seen the diagram on the BBC
website) - does fibre optic broadband mean digging up the roads to domestic
houses? Or is it just the fatter pipes to whatever the cabled equivalent
of exchanges are (UBRs is it?) that need replacing ?

Some of you may know I moved from Hampshire to the Sussex coast a few years
ago and the infrastructure here is quite incredible - one road (an
"arterial" one that's not an A or B road) seems to be dug up every 3 months
(I'm not kidding) such that if it means more disruption - I don't think I'll
bother.
