Any meeting that fell on a bank holiday weekend was liable to be bumped,
so the January meeting was usually the second weekend.

That's sounds right, the default was always the first Saturday but when
we started "buddying up" with Surrey, the meetings were a week later
than ours. There were also a few occasions when issues with the venue
necessitated a move IIRC.
