if you happen to be a firefox user, there is a very nice 'Text Link'
add-on that enables you double-click URLs that have been written as
text.
this worked fine for the period that Google was bust... not that i'm
suggesting that should be its main use. it's a very handy add-on to
have... i find i use it quite a bit.
