For some time I have been trying to get IBM ViaVoice 10 speech
recognition program working in Wine. After installing the latest
version of Wine (1.1.14), winecfg now offers ALSA as a choice for
audio. Using this I can set up the microphone and use the speech
training wizard. Great!! However when I try to start the program I get
the following errors:-
clive@vaio:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/ViaVoice/Bin$ wine speechbar.exe

You must be attached to a process to run this command.
No process loaded, cannot execute 'detach'
The IBM splash screen appears and some time later a dialogue stating
"Your Operating System does not support voice commands for
menus........Use your mouse........"
"err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection ....." appears 3 or 4 times in
the Wine bugs list for other programs. Do I have to wait till this
fixed or can anyone suggest anything else I might try?
