Keith, that sorted that problem out, when I read your message a little light
went on in my head. Anyway, I can now access the shares from my window box
without a problem, I can add and delete without a problem.

I setup a linux login for the wife, added her to samba and she can now also
access the shares add and delete as required.

My next problem maybe what you touched on in your first post, if the wife adds a
file to one of the shares it comes up as owner karen and group karen (where as
everything in the shares at the moments is listed as owner mit group users. I
can open and delete these files that my wife adds but it makes the permission
look untidy (ok one file won't but in a couple of months it will).

Tim

P.S. My apologies to the list for the non thread posting (at least they are not
at my end), I am having e-mail problems (well my e-mail providers is) and am
having to change my e-mail transport.
