Subject: [Hampshire] Hardware - ongoing laptop issues
Hi guys,

Further to my previous posts, I am still having ongoing issues with my
laptop and I still think it's a hardware issue.

I still haven't re-seated memory as previously suggested - I'm not sure
that's the issue. I think the fault is actually on the PCI bus
somewhere rather than memory.

Interestingly, none of the USB ports work anymore, plugging a device in,
even one that previously worked will occasionally result in the device
appearing, then an error usually occurs and the device will be removed,
and the USB port disabled. This will happen with each port, until all
physical interfaces are disabled.

I am, on occasion, also getting an interesting kernel error here:
kernel: WARNING: at arch/x86/kernel/pci-nommu.c:62
nommu_map_sg+0x28/0xb0()

Seems odd as I haven't updated the kernel.

There are frequently PCI bus errors when shutting the laptop down also.

I could do with a reliable machine, so I don't suppose anyone is selling
a reasonable laptop for a reasonably low price?! I don't really want to
go through rebuilding this one at the moment, and I'm not even sure
it's worth extensive troubleshooting as I have little faith in the
hardware.

Cheers,
Steve
