This kernel appears to be detecting sda with 3 partitions:

Is your root filesystem normally on a partition on sda?

Is this the correct physical disk?

If it's the correct disk but on a different device to that which you
expected, have you tried referring to it by UUID or label?

WHat does your grub/menu.lst look like? Your /etc/fstab? Can you
put them into a pastebin for us to see?
