I don't know if this helps, but my Debian Lenny system has this:

chris@www:~$ ls -l /usr/bin/ssh
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 332928 2009-01-14 00:40 /usr/bin/ssh

and it's fairly up-to-date, with version 3.0.3-2 of ssh, and version
1:5.1p1-5 of openssh-client.
