Hi all

"Can't modify this partition - the daemon is being inhibited". Does this
mean anything to anyone?

I have a machine to which I'm trying to connect this new (well new to me!)
SCSI tape drive. The primary OS on the box is a legit copy of Vista and I
can't be bothered just wiping it altogether - might come in handy one day.
In preparation for Vista not playing well with the drive, I thought I'd
install Ubuntu as well. I thought I'd shrink the partition and install
Ubuntu into the free space I create. No problems so far...

Except that gag boot menu tells me that the Ubuntu partition is not
bootable. Not sure why but I booted into the Ubuntu DVD and tried to set
the bootable flag - and received this weird "daemon is being inhibited"
message. Any ideas anyone? If I adjust GAG such that it doesn't know
about the partition then the "daemon inhibited" message disappears but the
Ubuntu installer just has a "busy pointer" when I make the partition
bootable and Apply. It allows me to restart, but again the partition comes
up as not bootable. Any ideas?

Cheers

Rob
