That makes sense. Output on my system is as follows:-
philip@mistral:~$ ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/
total 0

I suppose if I ever add an extra drive I can use the old convention
first, then update fstab with the uuid to give me the advantage of
swapping cables in future.

Thanks for the input. I may have to blog this so that I can
remember.
