With this sort of problem, I often try running the script as a cron
job. There you get a minimal environment (tiny PATH, no TERM) and no
tty (finds commands which fail if not run interactively).If all is well
you will be mailed with the script output (or you could redirect to a
file if mail is not set up on the machine).
