Slightly :-)

I've only used DVD-RAM for reading (grabbing TV programmes of a disk
written by a recorder machine). I didn't do any benchmarks - but it
wasn't slow.

Errr - not really sure how much help I can be, on the grounds that I
didn't actually do anything to get it working - this was a standard WBEL
install...
