I will certainly ask them to correct the inaccuracy.

I certainly do not think it is anything but success. I have no way of
affording such a long article personally, and the very reason for the
SFD event is to educate! I have previously tried to get something
published but software is not a usually accepted subject in a local
newspaper. The offending edit - which is common in new areas of
expertise I think - simply *proves* that Software Freedom Day is
essential. (please help if you can?).

The reporter did her own research because facts were included in the
item which were not in my original press release. This is breaking new
and rather specialist ground, and we should not be shocked if the
apparent lack of success (in educating enough?) of last years Software
Freedom Day is in evidence now!

The edit probably occurred after it left the reporters hands. This is
the stuff of publicity. My aim is to cultivate a good relationship
with this reporter and the publication, and look to the future.

The only readers who will notice the anomaly will be cognoscenti!
Interestingly, if a large group of cognoscenti gathered and
demonstrated about the error, it would certainly be 'newsworthy'......

My neighbour stopped me just now in the street and mentioned the
article and event, not the anomaly. Publicity is not an exact science :-)

Everybody will (hopefully) turn up and get their free CDs for windows
and or linux!
