I was going to suggest grabbing the version from Ubuntu 8.04 or Debian
Unstable, but they are the same as Ubuntu 7.10 right now. I also note that
getdeb don't have it either.
I note they have released a new version on the gnomad site.
A bit of a google discovers Manuel Garcia looking for mentorship for 2.9.

Maybe contact him and ask where he is up to, ask if he has a working 2.9
deb?
Cheers,
Al.
