I have made a bit of progress. I have found I can print to our other
print, a Deskjet 895Cxi, using the same USB cable but not the one I
want to use (Deskjet 940C). Must be something odd with the latter
printer. However I really want to print using the the 940C connected
to my Clark Connect print server. It did this in the past before I
upgraded to Ubuntu 7.10.
I now realise the print setup tool has changed. Previously the whole
path to the printer was required in the dialogue but now only the IP
address of the remote machine is used and it finds the available
printers automatically.
If I now I select the printer on the remote machine to print a page
all looks fine except the the "Document print status" dialogue shows
PROGRESSING and it changes to HELD then times out.
