I think it means that there's an old PCMCIA-related ioctl (device
control system call) that is being deprecated. This could break certain
user-space programs that call it, such as pcmcia. Newer vesions of that
program will use newer calls.

I don't think support for the hardware is in any danger of being
dropped!
