If you ever have any suspicions about cooling, the *first* thing to check
is the thermal paste between the CPU and the cooler.

Over time, it dehydrates and goes hard. This gives it rubbish thermal
properties, and the processor gets too hot...

The fix is a bit of bog roll, a drip of acetone, and some new paste :-)
