Not sure I've never tried it, seem to remember that I had what looked
like a completely dead UPS and sticking new batteries in it fixed it but
it was a long time ago and it's all faded away :-)

I looked today & I've got about 3 sets of old batteries kicking around,
so if you're in the Portsmouth area you're welcome to pop in to where I
work for a set just let me know BEFORE tomorrow lunch time as I'm off on
holiday and I'll let the guys know that you might be popping in for them
and tell you who to ask for.
