[Hampshire] Firefox Annoyance

Hello all,
Just a quick question (hopefully) concerning Firefox. I have a local
server called http://houseweb/ . I tried to access it by typing that
into the adress bar, only for firefox to change it to www.houseweb.com.
I am not pressing ctrl+enter or anything, I have even tried bookmarking
it and accessing it through the bookmark but to no avail.
I did look through the properties, but either I am blind or there was
no option.
