Well, I've been trying to build the drivers that Asus sent me;
unfortunately, I'm trying against 2.6.27, whilst the binary image is
built & running on 2.6.21... And there are a few changes in v4l at
about 2.6.24, including some header file renaming.

However, plugging the U3100 into a stock Ubuntu 8.10 seems to find the
device OK, the LED on it lights up (as opposed to the dim glow using the
provided drivers) - although dmesg sometimes reports a mistaken belief
that there is a remote control receiver. Now all I need is a decent
signal to test if it is working properly - femon reports signal levels
whilst running a scan, just not strong enough to get a lock with the
diddy antenna.

Comparing the output from modinfo seems to suggest that the drivers
being used are the same version - no idea if those are updated - but the
srcversions are different (and the Ubuntu one reports an i2c
dependency).

Once I've found out if it is going to lock & pass TS across, I'll see if
the hotplug issue is still there...
