Thanks for your suggestion. I find I copied the wrong attempt to
mount. I did use /dev/sdd1 later but to get the same error. I am now
running TestDisk from Knoppix 6 on a live DVD and have had to go to
the Deeper Search to find the correct setup. It did show my file
structure on the way so I think the files are still there. I am at the
point that shows the following.
1 * FAT32 LBA 0 1 1
9728 254 63 156269322 [NO NAME]
Cluster 3750, Directory / found ?
Answer Y(es), N(o), or A(bort interacrive mode). N or A if not sure.

I think 24-Apr-2007 is correct but why does it occur twice? Is this the problem?
<Quote from my previous post>
Running fdisk /dev/sda gives
Command (m for help): p
Disk /dev/sdc: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xd03f6341
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdc1 * 1 9729 78148161 c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
<End quote>
Why is the end 1 cylinder short of 9729 shown by fdisk?
Advice from TestDisk users welcome.
