From BBC news site.
- some private schools are dropping GCSE and using iGCSE.
The GCSE is mostly (class,home)work based - the iGCSE being mostly exam based.

The thinking is that dilligent students can excel at (well are much easier to
tutor for) exams than extended coursework. If they want excellent grades then
exams are the way to go. The suggestion is that GCSE holders are now considered
"mostly illiterate".

Not a good sign when a degree is now only equivalent to what used to be an Alevel.

Mind you I remember doing A+ "Physics" and the exam was more complex (harder to pass)
than second year degree physics.
