Watch out for the cost of tapes. When you calculate how many tapes you
need for proper weekly, monthly and yearly backups, they all mount up.
I us a usb or esata 3.5 HD docking station and backup to that instead.
I also backup over the internet using rsync over ssh to a PC I have
placed at my parents house.
So, the backup over the internet is my offsite backup, and the local
HD permits quick restore if I need it.
This is all cheaper than TAPE backups.
For really valuable files, like pictures, I also use backup to a
rugged USB flash disk as this lasts longer than HDs.
