Hello James.
Thanks for the advice. Incidentally if you read my post closely, you
will note that the googling was an attempt to seek a solution after
completing the upgrade. To be clear, the warning message during the
upgrade of udev suggested possible not definite instability issues so I
chose to not heed the package maintainers warning. oh well.
