I have an example where XP frustrates me on a regular basis. Due to
other users, I keep XP as a duel boot option on my laptop. I have a
Samsung USB laser printer. In windows, it will automatically setup a
printer when I plug it in. However, when I plug it in again it will
set up a new printer if I don't use the exact same USB port. So I
have three printers configured, one for each port. However, only one
is default, and I have no way of telling without going into the
printer control panel.

With CUPS in Linux, it just works. I can send a print, plug the
printer into any of the three ports, and the print will come out.

I have given up trying to explain to other family members why XP
doesen't 'just work'. My normal answer now is 'use Linux!'
