<The last error message is wrong. 2/4/7 should read "LOGICAL UNIT NOT

<Additionally 'dmesg' gives:

<hdc: rw=0, want=68, limit=4
<isofs_fill_super: bread failed, dev=hdc, iso_blknum=16, block=16

It may be possible that you are looking at the wrong thing.
One thing in windows is that DVD writing software needs to have the commands
that will drive the processor of the DVD writer. This ends requiring
constant upgrades to DVD/CD writing software in windows to be able to drive
the new DVD/CD writer. It may be worth approaching someone with windows and
a copy of DVD writing software which is listed as being able to use you
particular DVD writer and seeing if the writer will write correctly.

I have an Aopen DUW160B in an external USB case it writes in windows at 8
speed is picked up by K3B in knoppix on a laptop as able to write at 8 speed
but will would not write greater than 1 speed. I had to write some data
using K3B yesturday using this DVD writor. Knoppix was unable to read the
disk but windows was able to do this.

The same writor in an external USB case will write at 8 speed using K3B in
SUSE with no trouble.
