They (and others) also have a tendency to line their and their friends
pockets at our expense. Not that I'm cynical about politicians or anything...

I don't think anyone in government or the civil service likes open or
transparency, just think what would happen if we knew how incompetent
our government really was...

I think I've watched too many Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister episodes!
