6.06 is Dapper (Dapper Drake) and is special in that it has 'long term
support' (LTS). This means it will get security and bug updates for
longer than the usual 18 months - to allow business users and others
to settle with it.

The normal updates simply keep your 6.06 packages and programs up to
date for security fixes and bugs. You continue with 6.06 in good order
and up to date.
