It may simply be that the same software is used for different
types of hardware. If the hardware was a modem, then it does
care about the type of ADSL you have. It's easier to use the
same configuration software on all their products.

Does it matter? If you've got the same options as me, then
just select "Static IP" (or DHCP) and fill in the details.
These options don't ask you for anything it doesn't need to
know.
