<quote>Limitations of use...
The homeplug will not function when used with a socket or extension lead with
spike or surge protection</quote>

I use mine - at both ends of the connection - plugged into extensions with
surge protection. I was warned that this _might_ cause problems, so I
decided to suck it and see, and only worry about the problem if it arose.

I have had no problems at all. As for speed, I have 85 Mbps plugs and have
always had a more than satisfactory speed. I do not, however, use my laptop
to watch videos or listen to music. But I have done an Etch net-install via
the Homeplug network and got excellent download speeds.
