Can't you just use one picture per CF card, and just have lots of CF
cards, in much the same way as those old pro cameras had one picture
per film cartridge.
You cannot use CF->IDE adapters with cameras because only one thing
can be talking to the media at a time. For example, the camera takes a
photo, and stores it on what it thinks is a CF card, but in fact that
is somewhere on your network. If the network deletes the photo because
it has it backed up somewhere, the camera will end up corrupting the
store as the state that the camera thinks the CF is in, is different
from its actual state.
So, unless the camera is designed for this rather specialist task, the
best solution is simply lots of CF cards.
