I know this is a much lower tech suggestion but a friend of mine who lives
in Arizona had a similar problem (his laptop would lock up due to over
heating) and he found that simply resting the back of the laptop on a book
to raise it and let there be airflow underneath the machine was enough to
solve the problem.
