I remember an article on this some time ago - it involves configuring X
to detect the pen sensitivity. As I have never bother with this I
cannot help much.

Hmm mine appears as a "WACOM...." something or other under live CD's

Does the tablet comes with both mouse and pen?

Mime did - and the Gimp under winodws detects both pen and mouse.
I.e. I can configure the mouse as one 'pen' and the pen to do a
different action.
