Last week I bought a "Corsair Value Select 2048Mb (2x1GB) Kit 400MHz
184Pin PC3200 CL3" pair of 400MHz DDR 1GB rams from Novatech for my
P4P800 motherboard.

Decided on Corsair because didn't want the no-brand Novatech one, since
I remember Novatech unbranded memory (many years ago) failing.

Works fine as did my original 2x 512MB Crucial. However when putting
both in together, Windows worked fine with no problem but Debian and
Ubuntu ran verrrrrry slowly. Although this was only 3GB It should take
4GB. It reported a little less than 3GB installed.

There is a warning in the manual saying "When all 4 sockets are
populated with 1GB dimms (total 4GB) the system may detect only 3+GB (a
little less than 4GB- doesn't say how much less) due to ICH5R resource
allocation. I was going to try to find a forum to see if anyone can help
with this, but haven't yet got round to it.

I'm running with the new 2GB which performed Memtest 86 for several
hours with no problems (tested with 5% overclocking).
