apart from comments made in my previous post I have a philosophical
objection to putting any data on a server located in the USA.

This question of server hosting has also raised the matter of being
able to pass control of the data to a successor in the event of my
demise. So I would need to move the data from the LUG box to another
location at some time in the 'near' future anyway.

The data is no longer of a purely personal nature containing as it
does personal details of some 65,000 persons, some of whom are still
alive, who live/lived in a small part of the UK. I know it would be
considered a tragedy by many people if the data was lost.
